Apples and Oranges

Once again I have succombed to comparing my daughters. This morning (before Gabby decided to crawl), I decided it was a great idea to give her a metal bowl and wooden spoon.  She absolutely loved the new toy and started hitting immediately.  Suddenly I had a flashback about a similar time with Natalie at the exact same age.  I hurried to my comptuer and sure enough there were pictures documenting Natalie banging a bowl with her spoon.  So see for your self, here is Natalie and Gabby at the same age doing the exact same thing! :)

Gabby

Natty

She looks a little possessed in this shot. She was screaming her head off!!

Looky Looky

Cuteness

Aren't these two girls adorable!! How can you not smile when you see their little faces?

I've caught a bug

A sewing bug! This is the Knot Dress I made for Gabby. I think she looks pretty darn cute in it!

Some throw pillows for the couch to brighten up the room. I love the blue and brown combo
Finally, some ruffle pants for the littlest one.  I need to make the legs wider she has such thick thighs like the rest of the family :)

Sewing Again

I have been finding some patterns online and trying them out. I am by no means good at sewing. Actually, I find it frustrating and tedious, but I push on because I like the end result.  I thought I would try to go above my skill level and make this ruffle twirl dress for Gabby that can be worn with ruffle pants.  After several hours, a frustrated me, I did manage to get the dress completed. Its not perfect and some of the hem lines are not quite straight, but this is my third project EVER!! I think she will look really cute in it!

Eating is Messy

Learning how to eat is a messy experience. Gabby is more interested in our food than baby food or her bottle so I started letting her feed herself finger foods.  She has been eating carrots, peas and green beans and tonight I added bananas to her menu.  She loves eating my herself, though it is very messy. I am impressed since she is only 7 months old.  Way to go little girl!

A look of satisfaction
UMM I think we might need to show her again how the cup works.
Finally, but she never got any drink out of it.
All that hard work and playing makes a girl so sleepy that she crashes where she was playing.

Mallipo Beach

This past Saturday we took a day trip to Mallipo Beach. It is about a two hour drive from Pyongtaek, where we live.  We went with some friends and had a wonderful time. Natalie and Daisy enjoyed playing in the sand and loved jumping on their Daddy's in the ocean.  Shauna and I manned down the tents with the two babies, though Jae and Gabby enjoyed splashing on the waters edge. Jae enjoyed crawling through the sand and eating it. Gabby thought eating sand was great too. I think I spent more time getting sand out of her mouth than anything else.  Towards the end of the afternoon, Shauna and I went on a Banana Boat ride that was a wee bit crazy. The driver was going really fast and was trying to throw us off. Us Texas girls were not going to allow the Koreans the satisfaction and held on for dear life.  Today my body aches! :)

A girl who really wants to go.  Yay for me, she has mastered the Low Crawl and is now mobile. Fortunately, she is really slow so I can head her off.  Unfortunately, I feel she will be crawling soon!

Destroying something

Doing what little girls do the best, dig in the Sand and build Princess Castles!
A view of the Beach
Up the road to where we parked.
This is what happens when you forget the BBQ grill. You improvise. Good thing they are from Texas and Wyoming!

Baby Rick

Everyone likes to tell me how much Gabby is the spitting image of her father, so I thought I would play the little game with them.  Here is a picture of a cute cute baby Rick at approximately 6 months.  He looks the same today.  Below him is a picture of Gabby at 7 months. You can tell the are related, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they are mirror images of each other.  What do you think?

Now I have also heard that Gabby resembles my father some, so here is a picture of him. What do you think?

Size Comparison

Because I can't help but compare my girls here is a size comparison.

Natalie 9 months:  27 inches and 16 lbs
Gabby 7 months:  26 inches and 17 lbs

That's right Gabby is 1 inch shorter than Natalie was at 9 months and already a pound heavier...I think she might be my bigger child!!

Natalie 6 1/2 months:  25 1/2 inches
Gabby 6 1/2 months:  25 3/4 inches

Now at the same age they were almost the same height, but Gabby was still fatter!!

Where did all the food go?

natalie wanted to feed her sister lunch.  I am not sure where the food went. Some of it was on Natalie's shirt, some on Gabby's face, and the rest on the tray.  I wonder how much actually got consumed?
I see a Rice biscuit, and the remnants of her other food. Learning to eat is messy!
And just for fun me and Natalie.

Close to crawling?

She rolled off the carpet  then managed to get on all fours
Now, this is the first time she has tried to get back to sitting. Normally she flattens out like a pancake, but see her resting on her little hiney.
And eventually success! She was very proud of herself. It  was sweaty hot in our house so she was in a diaper only. Oh I miss central air.
Playing with her Sissy bright and early in their PJs.
